Dell EMC PowerMax 8500 — Key Features

Key Features
End-to-End NVMe & Dynamic Fabric Architecture
Designed from the ground up as an all-flash NVMe array, the PowerMax 8500 leverages NVMe-over-Fabrics (NVMe/FC, NVMe/TCP) and high-bandwidth InfiniBand networking to deliver ultra-low latency, high IOPS and throughput for demanding workloads.
The Dynamic Fabric architecture decouples compute (controllers) and storage media, allowing independent scaling of performance and capacity — essential for large-scale, evolving enterprise environments.
Massive Scale-Out Capacity & Consolidation
Supports up to 16 node-pairs (i.e. multiple controller engines) and hundreds of NVMe/SCM drives per array — enabling extremely large raw capacity (petabytes) and high-density consolidation.
Ideal for consolidating mixed workloads (open systems, mainframe, file, virtualized, container) onto a single storage platform, simplifying infrastructure and reducing TCO.
Enterprise Data Services & Cyber-Resiliency
Built-in data services include inline global deduplication and compression, thin provisioning & thin clones, snapshots (including support for many millions of snapshots), and hardware-based encryption for data at rest — combining efficiency with security.
Advanced remote replication (synchronous/asynchronous), Metro / multi-site replication, and non-disruptive upgrades/support, making the 8500 suitable for mission-critical, always-on infrastructure with stringent RPO/RTO requirements.
