VDI Density Without Licensing Fees

The Intel Flex 140 packs two GPUs onto a single 75W low-profile PCIe card with 12GB of GDDR6 memory and four media codec engines. It supports up to 62 SR-IOV virtual functions per card with no vGPU licensing fees, unlike NVIDIA which charges per-user licensing for vPC and vWS.

Built-in AV1 encode (which NVIDIA T4 lacks) delivers up to 4× more 4K transcode streams than competing cards. The open oneAPI and OpenVINO stack provides AI visual inference without proprietary lock-in. At 75W slot-powered, it fits into nearly any Dell PowerEdge server.

Where the Flex 140 Excels

High-Density VDI

High-Density VDI

Up to 62 SR-IOV virtual functions per card with zero licensing fees. Dell/Intel testing showed up to 123% VDI performance improvement on PowerEdge servers. For organizations scaling VDI to hundreds of users, the licensing savings alone can pay for the hardware.

Media Transcoding

Media Transcoding

Four codec engines with H.264, H.265, and AV1 encode/decode. The T4 doesn't support AV1 encoding at all. AV1 delivers ~30% bitrate savings over AVC, reducing bandwidth costs for streaming and CDN delivery. The Flex 140 can handle up to 4× more 4K transcode streams than competing low-power cards.
