Overview
The Proven Mainstream Accelerator
The NVIDIA A10 is the mid-tier data center GPU that handles a bit of everything. Virtual workstations for CAD users, GPU-accelerated virtual desktops for knowledge workers, AI inference for production models, and video transcoding for media pipelines. All from a single-slot, 150W card with 24GB of GDDR6 and PCIe Gen4 connectivity.
Built on the Ampere architecture with second-generation RT Cores and third-generation Tensor Cores, the A10 delivers up to 2.5X the virtual workstation performance and 2.5X the inference throughput of the T4 it replaced. At 150W with a full-height, full-length single-slot design, it fits into most 2U Dell PowerEdge servers without requiring dual-slot GPU configurations.
The A10 is widely deployed, well-understood, and available from ServerMonkey both new and refurbished at competitive pricing.
A10 vs. L40: Stay or Upgrade?
The A10 gives you strong multi-workload performance at 150W in a single slot. The L40 doubles the memory, adds third-gen RT Cores, and delivers significantly more graphics and AI throughput, but at 300W in a dual-slot form factor.
| A10 | L40 | |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Ampere | Ada Lovelace |
| Memory | 24GB GDDR6 | 48GB GDDR6 |
| Bandwidth | 600 GB/s | 864 GB/s |
| TDP | 150W | 300W |
| Form Factor | Single-slot FHFL | Dual-slot FHFL |
| vGPU Support | Yes | Yes |
If your servers have the power and slot budget, the L40 is the upgrade. If you need to maximize GPU count per server, the A10's single-slot design wins.

Use Cases
What the A10 Does Best
Virtual Workstations
The A10 combined with RTX Virtual Workstation software delivers up to 2.5X the virtual workstation performance of the T4. Engineers, designers, and architects working in CAD, 3D modeling, and simulation tools get workstation-class performance from anywhere, hosted in your data center. The 24GB framebuffer handles complex assemblies and high-resolution textures without memory pressure.
GPU-Accelerated VDI
Pair the A10 with NVIDIA vPC software to deliver GPU-backed virtual desktops to knowledge workers. Its single-slot form factor means you can fit more GPUs per server than dual-slot alternatives, increasing your user-to-server ratio. For mixed environments where some users need workstation-class graphics and others just need smooth Office and video, the A10 handles both profiles with vGPU partitioning.
AI Inference
Third-generation Tensor Cores deliver solid inference performance on production models. The A10 handles ResNet, BERT, recommendation engines, and NLP workloads at 2.5X the throughput of the T4. For organizations that don't need cutting-edge FP8 precision (that's L4/L40S territory), the A10's INT8 and FP16 capabilities are more than sufficient for most deployed models.
Video & Media Processing
Hardware video encode and decode engines (with AV1 decode) make the A10 suitable for transcoding, live streaming, and video analytics pipelines. Its 150W power envelope and single-slot design let you consolidate video processing alongside other workloads on the same server without dedicated encoding hardware.
