The chassis expands local drive density by seven percent over previous generations, hosting up to 28 x 3.5-inch SAS/SATA hard drives across front, mid, and rear internal bays to achieve an expansive total raw capacity of up to 616TB within a single system.
Leveraging advanced storage tiering capabilities supported by high-speed PCIe architecture, the system optimizes data access by seamlessly pairing its high-capacity bulk hard drive arrays with low-latency NVMe SSDs and up to two single-wide NVIDIA graphics accelerators. Operational maintenance and service costs can be reduced by up to 50 percent through a specialized external rail design that permits swift, hot-plug drive and PCIe card replacements. Additionally, the server's air-cooled design relies on Smart Cooling technology, which utilizes optimized chassis layouts, high-airflow fans, and custom air baffles regulated by Dell OpenManage Power Manager software to maintain ideal operating temperatures without requiring expensive liquid cooling infrastructure.
